Avenue Magazine, January 2018: "Mishaan Celebrates 25 Years Out of Fashion"

It was a business anniversary that felt like a family affair. The 25th Anniversary of Richard Mishaan Design was held last night at the firm's studio on Hudson Street in TriBeCa. Guests from the worlds of fashion, design, and media toured the 2,000 square foot space, which is filled with antiques, art, and archives gathered during the designer's long career. Afterward, a smaller group trouped around the corner to Yves, despite it's name, an American restaurant on Greenwich Street, for a family style dinner at a single long table that filled the center of the room.

Guests included Vanity Fair's James Reginato, AD's Amy Astley, 1st Dibs' Tony Freund, Jeffrey Caldwell, Barbara Hodes of NYC Private Shopping Tours, Dering Hall's Michael Boodro, Forbes' Bettina Zilkha, Galerie Magazine's Margaret Russell, Hearst honcho Michael Clinton, Jay Snyder, Robert Rufino, Nicole Miller and Kim Taiple, Frank Dilella, Alex Papachristidis, Helen Schifter, Sarah Dodd, and Campion Platt.

"My husband has always been a visionary and my life has never been dull because of him," Marcia Mishaan said in a toast. "Whenever I come home I never know where the furniture will be. My children even asked my once why the dining room chairs were always changing."

Mishaan joked that his best career move was quitting the garment business. "I am so glad I left the fashion world and decided to spend 25 years in the design business," he said.
