Luxury Magazine Fall 2016: Ready Made
"The young couple who purchased two apartments hired Richard Mishaan, a master of modern layering, to combine them. 'They were excited about having it as luxurious as it could be,' he recalls. Surface treatments include: 'woven' limestone tiles in the foyer (a nod to the owner's love of Jerusalem's signature ashlar buildings); a Macassar ebony-clad stair; Venetian palazzo-style floors of wood bordered in limestone and inset with stainless steel; shimmery grasscloth in the living room; more Macassar in the kitchen, this time juxtaposed with lime green lacquered cabinets (for the couple's five kids); and, in the master bath, a Sicis mosaic that, says Mishaan, 'looked to me like a Jackie O. 1960s Gucci print.' Fortunately, he adds, 'Ceiling heights and room sizes were tremendous, so they could support a lot of design.'"
