"Award winning designer Richard Mishaan recently announced his Cartagena inspired pop-up shop in New York City. The Colombian born designer will offer a variety of handcrafted items ranging from home, design, and fashion accessories.
Mishaan states, 'Whenever people come to visit me at my home in Cartagena they always want to take everything back with them! So, I decided to open a pop-up shop where all my New York friends could find truly special, one-of-a-kind pieces from the region.'
Home items will include tabletop ceramics, including bone china plates with matte finishes, and dining placemats made from woven horsehair and gold thread by Amazonian Indians. Other table accessories include ceramic, leather, and straw chargers, glassware, bowls, votives, and hurricane candles wrapped in jute.
The pop-up will also feature high-style Colombia artisan crafts including a selection of colorful furnishings, such as square ottomans made from local craftsmen's retired hammock materials of which Richard took and dyed a specific navy and white. Mishaan re-colored and edited the pieces to reflect how people live in the Hamptons and Nantucket. The pop-up will also include over-embroidered Amazonian pillows that are re-dyed in shades of red, white, and blue, along with Alpaca linen and throw pillows. Other notable items include: jute handbags, clutches, custom embroidered tote bags, travel pouches, and boating bags along with Panama style straw hats."
