“Richard Mishaan’s exquisite Parlor Room on the ground floor was a dazzling home to culture, travel, and craftsmanship. The striking wall covering’s design dates back to Syria in the early 1600’s, when the Middle East was at its cultural apogee. ‘My inspiration is a room that was collected over time,’ said Mishaan. ‘Hand loomed silk brocades from Bevilacqua, hand printed Fortuny fabrics, animal prints in silk velvet and yards and yards of gimps, cords, and woven tape from Samuel and Sons are the backdrop to my layered décor for this room.’ Mishaan’s room featured Orientalist paintings, objects he had collected from his recent trip to Marrakech, and a Serapi Persian rug hand loomed in 1880.
